Help for the Homeless is The Family Radio Network’s annual Spring hygiene drive and runs from February 17 – March 10, 2019. The drive works to stock the shelves of 83 homeless and crisis programs in 15 Wisconsin communities in their listening areas for the year. All donations stay in the community where they are collected. The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Fox Valley’s Runaway & Homeless Youth Program is one of the programs this drive benefits. These donations allow us, and other Fox Valley crisis programs, dedicate our time to providing resources for personnel, safe housing, food and education to those we serve.
In 2018 we provided over 70 families/individuals with care packages reaching 135 youth in the process. Our Runaway & Homeless Youth Services program received all of these items last year from this hygiene drive. It is very important to our program.
“It’s not unusual for middle and high school students to skip school because they’re embarrassed about the way they look or smell. The shampoo, laundry soap, and deodorant you donate prevents children from being picked on for smelling bad or having dirty clothes, and helps them stay in school.” – School Social Worker
