BGCFV Guiding Principles:
- Youth-Centered: We believe our purpose remains as important today as it was at the time of the organization’s founding – to help make the Fox Valley a great place for all youth to grow. Remaining mindful of this, we will continue to prioritize inclusive youth development environments and services, ensuring all youth have ready access to our programs and services.
- Collaboration: We believe in the strength and effectiveness of a collaborative approach and will foster positive working relationships with many individuals, community organizations and institutions focused on shared goals.
- Leadership: We believe leadership is often needed to build efforts that address emerging needs and will take a proactive role in developing new relationships and expanding program efforts where our competencies and assets can be of benefit to youth and families.
- Cultural Competency: We believe to best meet the needs of youth we serve we must provide programs that respond to the diversity of their life experiences. We will focus on ensuring our teams of volunteers and staff members have the cultural awareness necessary to create a responsive array of youth programs and services.

Why Boys & Girls Clubs Are Special
Four key characteristics define the essence of a Boys & Girls Club. All are critical in exerting positive impact on the life of a child:
- Dedicated Youth Facility: The Boys & Girls Club is a place – an actual neighborhood-based building – designed solely for youth programs and activities.
- Open Daily: The Club is open every day, after school, when kids have free time and need positive, productive outlets.
- Professional Staff: Every Club has full and part-time, trained youth development professionals, providing positive role models and mentors. Volunteers provide key supplementary support.
- Available/Affordable to All Youth: Membership dues are affordable. Clubs reach out to kids who may lack access to other community programs.
Great Futures 2025
The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Fox Valley will grow by providing an exemplary Club Experience for youth from throughout the Fox Cities area that ensures members are on track to graduate from high school, have a plan for their future, demonstrate good character and citizenship, and live a healthy lifestyle. The goal is to increase the percentage of Club members reporting an Optimal Club Experience to 75% by 2025, based on data from the NYOI Member Survey.
