Virtual Activities

Simulation Activity

Step into the daily dilemma of making ends meet with SPENT — an interactive online simulation that puts you in the shoes of a single parent living on just $1,000 for one month. At every turn, you’ll confront tough choices: pay the rent or repair the car? Buy groceries or keep the lights on? Seek medical care or skip it? Created by McKinney and Urban Ministries of Durham, SPENT is designed to spark empathy and awareness by simulating the harsh realities of poverty and the difficult decisions many families face.

Click the button below to take the challenge and see if you can make it through the month.

Social Supports Activity

Identifying social supports is important for youth, especially when they encounter difficult circumstances. If an individual is ever feeling alone, is in trouble, or just wants someone to talk to, it is helpful to know that they have people who care for them.

Click on the buttons below to view two printable resources (one for teens/young adults and one for younger children) that can help youth identify their support system.

Watch the videos below to see from the perspective of people who have experienced trafficking/running away & homelessness.
