Because of you, our Boys & Girls Club continued to reach into the lives of thousands of young people in our community this year. Our team did not have to turn the lights out and go home – instead, they rose to the challenge but could do so only because you were there.
You were there for Dawn and Izik.
When 2019 began, Dawn was an “auntie” to bubbly and energetic eight-year-old Izik. Then, one day last year, she suddenly became his guardian. The day her life changed left her in a panic. Dawn tells us her search for help went from “Let’s just see what they have and (then the Boys & Girls Club) ended up being everything for us. When no one else could or would the Boys & Girls Clubs helped us over and beyond what we could have ever expected.”
This is their story…
Dawn shares that the Club has been with them every step of the way as she, Izik, and his brother formed a new family. At the Club, Izik gets help with his schoolwork, eats nutritious meals, and takes part in countless positive youth development programs. Izik is thriving. His reading is improving, he is making new friends, and is forming positive relationships with caring adults who are passionate about seeing him succeed.
Dawn and Izik’s story is repeated in so many ways, hundreds of times throughout our community. Because of you, our Club could be there to make a difference. Our kids need you once again.
